Laurelwood District wineries
The Laurelwood District, approved in 2020, lies within the Chehalem Mountains AVA on their north- and east-facing slopes, and is defined by the Laurelwood soil: windblown silt (loess) over a 15-million-year-old basalt base. It includes the highest point in the Willamette Valley, at 498 metres. It has 25 wineries and 70 vineyards, and the most common grapes are Pinot noir, Pinot gris and Chardonnay.
