Salzburg wineries
Salzburg has the smallest vineyard area of any Austrian state, just 0.19 hectares. The first modern vineyards were planted in 2001 at Großgmain below the Untersberg, and since 2008 the Mönchsberg in the city has grown Frühroter Veltliner for the “Paris Lodron Zwinger”, around 500 bottles a year whose profit goes to the Salzburg scouts.
