Vorarlberg wineries
Vorarlberg once had 500 hectares of vines in the Walgau and the Rhine valley, until phylloxera and South Tyrolean wine arriving by the Arlberg railway left only one vineyard, in Röthis. Since 1997 a growers’ association has revived wine here, now on about 10 hectares, with Müller-Thurgau, Grüner Veltliner and Burgundy varieties for whites and Pinot Noir as the main red.
