Vallée de la Marne wineries
The Vallée de la Marne follows the river west from Épernay and Aÿ towards Château-Thierry and the Aisne, with vineyards on steep slopes on both banks. Meunier, which copes well with clay soils and late frosts, is the main grape, while Aÿ and Hautvillers – where Dom Pérignon was cellar master – stand at the eastern end. The Avenue de Champagne in Épernay is lined with the houses’ headquarters and cellars.
