Montepulciano wineries

Montepulciano, on a ridge above the Val di Chiana, gives its name to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, made mainly from Sangiovese, which is known locally as Prugnolo Gentile. The area also takes in the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, and the hills of southern Siena around Sarteano, Cetona and San Casciano dei Bagni, with Cortona and its Syrah close by.
