Howell Mountain wineries
Howell Mountain lies above the fog line on the eastern side of the valley, at about 430 to 790 metres. It is warmer and drier than most AVAs, with more hours of sun and little marine influence, and its shallow volcanic soils drain well. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Viognier are grown here.
