Rutherford wineries

Rutherford lies on the valley floor, at about 50 to 150 metres, warm and sunny with large differences between day and night, and a little warmer on average than Oakville and Stags Leap District to the south. The western bench has gravelly, sandy sedimentary soils, the eastern side more fertile volcanic ones. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are the main grapes.
