Argentina · Wine region
Mendoza.
Mendoza is Argentina’s largest wine province by far: its 142,786 hectares of vines, spread over 14,593 vineyard holdings, make up 71.4% of the country’s vineyard area, and its 876 bodegas make more than 80% of Argentina’s wine. Malbec, the province’s emblematic grape, covers 39,856 hectares, more than a quarter of the vineyards. The harvest runs from late February to early April and has been celebrated since 1936 with the Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia, and Mendoza has been one of the Great Wine Capitals since 2005. Around 230 bodegas are regularly open to visitors (Emetur and COVIAR), most of them in Luján de Cuyo, the Valle de Uco and Maipú; our map shows the bodegas with a known location and website. 167 producers from Falstaff’s guide, the Mendoza tourism board’s list of bodegas and OpenStreetMap on one map, with restaurants, places to stay and directions.
Figures: Instituto Nacional de Vitivinicultura (INV), Informe anual de superficie 2024, and Gobierno de Mendoza, read October 2026.
