Côte des Blancs wineries
The Côte des Blancs runs south from Épernay along an east-facing chalk slope, and is almost entirely planted with Chardonnay – hence the name. Cramant, Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger are grands crus, and Vertus marks the southern end. Further south the Côte de Sézanne also grows mostly Chardonnay, and the small Vitryat area lies to the east around Vitry-le-François.
